Located in the heart of Indianapolis, Union 50 is a vibrant music venue that also doubles as a gastropub serving up delicious New American cuisine. As a food reviewer for Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of dining at Union 50 and exploring their diverse menu offerings.
This trendy establishment not only offers a wide range of options for vegetarians, pescatarians, and vegans, but also provides a plethora of amenities such as QR code menus, wheelchair accessibility, and even acceptance of cryptocurrency as payment. The atmosphere is casual yet lively, perfect for groups looking to enjoy a night out filled with good food and music.
Some standout dishes I sampled at Union 50 include the Beef Tartare Crostini with caper aioli and pickled onions, the Sticky Chicken Wings with sesame-soy glaze, and the Steamed Mussels in a spicy garlic white wine sauce with chorizo. Each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavors that left a lasting impression.
For those looking for a grand dining experience, the WoodFired Chicken served with ancient grains and a radish + celery salad, the Almond Baby Kale Pulao with cumin roasted carrots, and the Seared Duck with blue cornmeal pancake were all exceptional choices that showcased the culinary talent at Union 50.
Overall, Union 50 is a must-visit destination in Indianapolis for those seeking a unique dining experience accompanied by live music and a welcoming atmosphere. With a menu that caters to a variety of dietary preferences and a commitment to providing top-notch service, Union 50 stands out as a gem in the city's culinary scene.

I think this is the best restaurant I've eaten in Indy yet. My husband visited a few weeks ago with friends and has been raving about it since, so we took my mother in law for her birthday. Every single thing we ate was delectable. I'd highly recommend the salmon and the poutine - the poutine was so delicious that we ordered bread to lap up the extra gravy once the fries were gone! The food is unique, and I truly don't think there is a bad thing on the menu. The staff was very kind and accommodating, and the atmosphere was dark, moody, and trendy. It's a tad pricey, so I'd recommend coming for a special event or date night. Worth every penny!

The ambiance was very cool. The old fashion i had was actually an old fashion which seems to be increasingly rare, so i am very happy when i find a real bartender. The service was absolutely fantastic. The muscles and the lamd shank where to die for.

My sister and I had a sister date and decided to come enjoy Union 50 after it had been a couple of years since the both of us had been. It is truly a beautiful space. I love the open space concept and the bar! Our server was very informative, quick, and such a great spirit. We both ordered a beverage, shared a Caesar salad, my sister got the wings and fries, and I got the lamb shank. Everything was amazing. The sauce on the wings was delicious and the meat was so tender it fell right off the lamb shank. I did not have a drop of food left. We were excited to know they have a children's menu as we love going out as a family with our parents and spouses. We cannot wait to bring everyone back to enjoy and experience what we did.

Thought I'd do another annual update since this place never disappoints! Have scored the vast majority of my CRG points at Union 50, and even if I end up getting the same things over and over again it always hits the spot. Outdoor seating when its nice out, counter seating when its for 1-3, 4 top at the bar when its 4, or the badass cubicles when you have a big group, this place has nailed every configuration! Food wise, not much to say besides its a super consistent menu where you know exactly what you are getting. When you don't feel like getting actual food, you can totally get by on charcuterie + fries (love their sauce selections) + mussels.

Came to celebrate a birthday with a few people. Our server was great and the fries were delicious as well as the multiple sauces we got with them. My dinner was ok. I tend not order seafood when I'm in the Midwest but octopus was the only thing that stood out. It was edible and seasoned but a little chewy for my liking.

Steak was very good! Although perhaps slightly overcooked (because I was cautious and said "medium-well" instead of medium) to avoid previous issues of being a little under cooked. All that to say, these cooks know how to cook a great steak so get what you want! Muscles, sticky wings & fries for appetizers were a hit!

What a beautiful building! I was so surprised when walking in! Love the seating arrangements and how open it is. We had 3 large tables and service was so fast and smooth! All of our drinks and food arrived quickly. I had one of the mocktails that was fruity and tasty! We had a variety of dishes: mussels, wings, fries, duck, salmon, steak. Everyone enjoyed their dishes! The sauces with the fries were really good. I would definitely come back! Note: parking can be hard to find on the street

The food was food as were the signature drinks. We called ahead because there were 7 of us and the had the table ready when we got there 30 minutes later. The server told us about the food and drink menus and we ordered charcuterie and the crab cake appetizers. The bread, olive oil, crab cake and charcuterie pleased everyone. I had the salmon over sticky rice. Two others chose the short rib special over mashed sweet potatoes! If I ate beef I would have liked that and both of them ate it all! Prices are as expected $20-50 per plate. The restaurant had a large bar taking up the back wall with ample seating throughout! The kitchen chefs were partially visible as well as the food expediter. Classy but comfortable. Worth the trip downtown!

Yes. Yes! and YES! I have visited Union 50 a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet! Everything that I've tried from the menu has been delicious, but this visit was my favorite. First off, the decor is beautiful and elegant. I love sitting inside when I visit at night, but we went earlier this time so we sat outside. Our server was really attentive and gave us recommendations on their favorite items which helped us make our decisions. We went with the sticky chicken wings, duck fat rosemary fries and a Caesar salad which they split for us before it was brought to our table. Everything was a 10/10! The wings had the perfect amount of heat and crunch. The fries are always sooo good with the different sauces and the salad was extremely fresh! If you've been looking for a sign to visit, this is it!

We had an awesome time last night, Mike took great care of us and since I was on a Charcuterie kick from our Yelp event, the kitchen made a terrific board, that I forgot to take a photo of. No worries, we loved everything about this place and will be back! Perfect date night spot if you're looking for dim lights and a great atmosphere!
